BIPoC Mental Health Awareness Month

BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Mental Health Awareness Month aims to increase awareness about the systemic inequities and social determinants of mental health that disproportionately affect BIPoC individuals.

According to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), BIPoC individuals are less likely to receive mental health services and have higher rates of unmet substance use disorder treatment needs than non-Hispanic white Americans. These behavioral health inequities are the result of several factors, including social determinants of health, racial and ethnic disparities, and service and language access barriers.
