Washington State University is hiring for a Prevention System Manager (PSM) to work in the Substance Use Disorder Prevention and Mental Health Promotion Section at Health Care Authority. Washington State is a national leader in delivering evidence-based primary prevention services to youth, individuals, and families. In this role, the PSM will support safe and healthy communities across Washington to delay and reduce the onset of youth substance use and misuse. The PSM will be responsible for providing culturally appropriate technical assistance and contract monitoring of prevention programs and strategies implemented by contractors statewide. As a PSM, you will have a unique opportunity to engage with state workgroups, key partnerships and experts in the SUD prevention and mental health promotion field, and lead a minimum of one key project or initiative that has a statewide impact on communities (examples: conference and workforce support, Young Adult subject matter expert and Young Adult programs and project management, or others as identified).

We are recruiting for Cohort 14 of the DBHR-WSU Prevention Fellowship! The Fellowship is a unique opportunity to participate in state government work and engage with Washington State’s efforts towards substance use disorder (SUD) prevention and mental health (MH) promotion. There are opportunities for both bachelor’s level and graduate/post-graduate level Fellows to join this cohort. Both positions are full-time (100% FTE), paid, and temporary (ending September 2027). The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR) is seeking a Legislative Manager to serve as the division's subject matter expert and agency representative on federal and state behavioral health legislative priorities. Based in DBHR's Operations section, you will track and analyze legislation, lead the division's legislative work, and advise HCA and DBHR executive leadership on the policy, budget, and implementation impacts that shape behavioral health services across Washington.
