The Athena Forum is a central place for prevention and wellness information
Since 2008, the Athena Forum has served as Washington’s online hub for information, news, and resources that support substance use disorder prevention and mental health promotion. Coordinated by the Washington State Health Care Authority’s Division of Behavioral Health & Recovery (DBHR), Athena connects contractors, prevention providers, and partners with the tools and knowledge they need to strengthen communities across the state.
Athena is the Greek goddess associated with wisdom, strategy, and handicraft. She symbolizes practical insight, ingenuity, tactics and discipline, and creation (spinning, weaving, pottery). Athena was chosen to represent our Forum of information as these themes resonate with the work of prevention that we support and uplift across Washington.
