The federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) has awarded the Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services a three-year, $3 million grant. The funding will enhance treatment and recovery services for youth (ages 12 to 18) who have a substance use disorder, or both a substance use and mental health condition.

The U.S. Department of Education has released a free, two-part training toolkit designed to reduce incidents of bullying, for use by classroom teachers and educators. The toolkit was developed by the Safe and Supportive Schools Technical Assistance Center, supported by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Healthy Students, in collaboration with the NEA and the American Federation of Teachers.

The U.S. Department of Education has funded the Northwest Regional Center for $1.88 million to provide support to low-performing schools in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
