WTSC Announces Availability of Funding to Reduce Impaired Driving

The Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) has announced the availability of state impaired driving grant funding for the 2015-2017 Biennium. This announcement is intended to solicit proposals from organizations throughout the state creating and implementing leading-edge strategies to curb impaired driver behaviors that result in preventable and unnecessary loss of life. Proposals will be accepted both for strategies we know to be effective and those that will help us break new ground.

There is no minimum or maximum, although projects in the past have generally been between $5,000 - $50,000/Yr.

Details about this funding opportunity are available in the following documents:

WTSC – Impaired Driving Project – 15-17 Project Proposals Letter and Forms

Coalitions and community agencies that implement environmental prevention strategies could qualify for these funds, especially partnerships involving education, media and law enforcement.

One good example of a project that would likely be interesting to WTSC is the Law Enforcement Partnerships (LEP) projects that many CPWI communities have implemented using underage drinking prevention funding from DBHR. DBHR is finalizing a manual for implementation of the LEP program that will be posted to the Start Talking Now website in the very near future that could be useful both as a guide to applying for these funds as well as for implementing the program in your community.
