Nominations sought for Service to Science 2012
We need your help identifying programs from Washington State to nominate for Service to Science.
Do you know of an innovative program (or evidence-based program adapted for specific populations) that has built its practice on experience, creativity, and responsiveness to the substance abuse prevention and related mental health needs of a community; serves populations that are disproportionately affected by substance abuse; and was developed with input from the target audience? These are some of the program qualities that could contribute to eligibility to participate in the Service to Science academies. Please see the attached announcement and guide to learn more.
We have an opportunity to submit up to 5 nominations for the National 2013 Service to Science Initiative. This program is supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, and implemented by the Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPT), pending the availability of FY2013 funds. The CAPT will contact the programs that we nominate to complete an application narrative.

What can this opportunity do for a program?
The programs selected by the CAPT participate in the Service to Science Academies (face-to-face and electronic technical assistance and education) and may benefit from:
· Access to evaluation experts as well as to others implementing locally developed and innovative prevention programs
· Enhanced and significantly improved program evaluation capacity
· Improved programmatic approaches informed by evaluation findings
· Eligibility for competitive mini sub-contract awards to enhance evaluation methodologies
· Greater quality of submissions to national, evidence-based program registries
