Washington Recovery Helpline completes first year with more than 6,300 calls

WA Recovery Helpline is approaching the end of its first year! We have received 6,283 calls since July of 2011. Each month the number grows. In March alone, we answered 1376 calls! The WA Recovery Help Line is overseen by a Recovery Coordinator who is a Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Professional. She works with a team of trained Recovery Specialists, Chemical Dependency Professional Trainees, Interns and volunteers. Calls are answered to assist the caller in finding the resources they need in the areas of substance abuse, problem gambling and mental health. We are able to locate resources in the local community of the caller. Please pass on our number to everyone you know – 866-789-1511. We continue to be available 24 hours a year, 365 days a year!

ACTSlogo 2Asian American Chemical Dependency Treatment Services (ACTS) recognizes the tremendous needs and wants of people’s solution in their family conflicts, but are not willing to come out of their secret due to the cultural myths and stigma. They are concerned about the dilemma in which parents cover up for their children’s drug problems until the children become more uncontrollable in their behaviors with drug and alcohol abuse and dependency.

Counseling has not been a part of Asian culture. Drug and alcohol problems are treated as a family secret. They have never thought to seek for help for family problems. Asian families struggle with the dilemma of chemical dependency and what to do.

Since their establishment six years ago, ACTS has been focusing on patients with court ordered DUI and DV charges. ACTS provides services for individuals ages 12 to 18 with psychological, emotional and behavioral problems. We approach the adolescent's treatment through consideration of their social, academic and family environments. Our professionals will target those areas that are going to be critical for recovery.
