You're invited: Strategies to reach the last U.S. seat belt use holdouts

You’re invited to participate in a one-hour virtual workshop to provide feedback on new resources designed to reach the last of the U.S. seat belt holdouts. Washington has a high seat belt use rate of 94.6%, but those who don’t consistently buckle up continue to contribute to traffic fatalities. From 2021–2025, 21% of fatal crashes in Washington involved someone who was unrestrained.

Five toolkits have been developed as part of the Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Program (BTSCRP) Project BTS-35: Strategies to Reach the Last of the Seat Belt Use Holdouts. Three virtual workshops will be offered in October to gather feedback and help improve these resources before they are finalized.
