Are you a parent, caregiver, or family member supporting a loved one impacted by addiction? Free Substance Use Disorder education sessions are available. This 8-week series covers practical skills from the CRAFT model, communication strategies, and guidance for navigating Washington's behavioral health systems. Presented by families, for families.
Overview:
This unique training provided by Washington State Community Connectors is specifically designed for parents, caregivers, and other family members of individuals with a Substance Use Disorder (SUD). It is proudly presented by parents and family members who have lived experience supporting a loved one with SUD.
The SUD Family Education Sessions was developed in collaboration with the Health Care Authority, family members, and family-led organizations. It aims to equip you with an understanding of SUD and provide helpful support strategies.
What you will gain from this training:
- The current information on Substance Use Disorder (SUD), addiction, and its effects on the adolescent brain.
- Skills for navigating your relationship with someone with SUD, including strategies from the CRAFT model.
- Guidance on systems navigation within Washington State.
- A toolkit with information and resources specific to SUD supports and services in Washington State, grounded in research from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA) and their partners.
