Training-of-Trainers (ToT) for Lethal Means Safety
Forefront Suicide Prevention at the University of Washington invites suicide prevention coalitions to participate in a new Training-of-Trainers (ToT) for Lethal Means Safety, a suicide prevention training funded by the Washington State Department of Health.
Lethal means safety is an essential part of suicide prevention. According to the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, a public health approach to suicide prevention is comprehensive—and lethal means safety is a key component of effective prevention. This training is designed to support community leaders in sharing this important information in ways that are relevant, practical, and culturally responsive.
Why attend? Peer training models are effective because people often learn best when information comes from trusted peers in their own communities. Peer trainers also tend to have stronger connections to their communities and a deeper understanding of cultural nuance and local context. Using a peer trainer model can also strengthen collaboration, networking, and long-term sustainability.
