Training Content

This virtual training of trainers (VTOT) will provide experienced substance misuse prevention trainers with the information necessary to facilitate the Introduction to the Prevention Core Competencies for Prevention Professionals (PCC) curriculum. The PCC curriculum provides early career substance misuse prevention professionals with an introduction to prevention science and a roadmap to further education and professional development. This VTOT course combines approximately 11 hours of self-paced work via HealtheKnowledge.org with four 3-hour Zoom sessions held over one week, as well as homework and preparing for teach-backs totaling 23 training hours.

Course Goals

The VTOT will provide participants with:

  • A clear understanding of the content of the PCC curriculum
  • Practice delivering portions of the curriculum
  • The opportunity to ask an expert trainer for clarification about the content and delivery of the curriculum.

Course Structure

This training of trainers course includes the following time commitment and tasks:

  • Session #1 via Zoom: September 1, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm PT
  • Pre-session 2 homework through HealtheKnowledge.org (3 hours)
  • Session #2 via Zoom: September 3, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm PT
  • Pre-session 3 homework through HealtheKnowledge.org (4 hours)
  • Session #3 via Zoom: September 8, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm PT
  • Pre-session 4 homework through HealtheKnowledge.org (4 hours)
  • Session #4 via Zoom: September 10, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm PT

IMPORTANT: Each participant will need to dedicate approximately 23 hours towards zoom sessions, homework, and to prepare for teach-backs. It will be essential that participants have time available in their schedules to complete the homework assignments by each deadline.
