Join the National Academy of Sciences for a workshop that will explore how to support the development of media literacy for children and youth in the context of a complex information ecosystem. The workshop will take place on June 11 – 12, 2026 in Washington, D.C. and online.
The 21st century information ecosystem poses a tremendous challenge for anyone seeking accurate and credible information. How can we ensure that children and youth have the skills needed to successfully navigate this environment?
The National Academies is hosting a workshop that will focus on ways to help children and youth navigate rapidly changing media environments. The workshop will bring together educators (from both formal and out-of-school settings), curriculum developers, researchers, program providers, as well as associations and organizations to explore promising practices and programs. Workshop participants will discuss and identify current educational needs for supporting the development of media literacy in the context of a complex information ecosystem.
