Mercer Island to host, "The Blunt Truth: Communities Dealing with Marijuana" webcast

You are invited to a viewing of the a national webcast of "The Blunt Truth: Communities Dealing with Marijuana," August 25, 2011 from 10 AM - Noon at Mercer Island Community Center.

The event is sponsored by the Mercer Island Communities That Care's Coalition and endorsed by the Washington Drug Free Communities Coalition of Coalitions (WACofC) and the Washington Association for Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention (WASAVP).

The webcast is offered by the Multi-Jurisdictional Counter Drug Task Force (MCTFT) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Drug

Jim Cooper, executive director of TOGETHER! for Thurston County, is one of three national prevention professionals featured in this hour-long program and will be present to participate in a follow-up discussion.

The webcast will discuss the latest information on changing attitudes about marijuana, understanding the different marijuana laws, and how coalitions around the nation are getting their prevention messages out. After viewing, there will be an hour-long discussion about how the prevention community in Washington is addressing the marijuana issue, options for collaboration, and strategies to educate the public.
