This message is shared on behalf of the (larger, multi-agency) Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) Planning Committee regarding the revision process for the next (2027) Healthy Youth Survey cycle:
We are entering the phase of the Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) cycle when we typically begin soliciting survey revisions from partners and communities. However, after extensive consideration, the HYS Planning Committee has decided to modify the revision process for the 2027 cycle as follows:
- We will not be requesting suggestions for revisions that add, modify, or remove questions for the 2027 HYS.
- The HYS Planning Committee will be reviewing the survey to update any questions that are no longer accurate or relevant and to implement any necessary revisions to format, grammar, and spelling.
- The general comment form will remain open as always here. Responses from this form are monitored throughout the year and as with all feedback we receive, the team reviews and considers each submission.
We did not make this decision lightly. We value your input, the opportunities to evolve the survey, and your active engagement throughout the administration of HYS. Our state is experiencing a budget shortfall that is co-occurring with many of our federal funds being reduced or eliminated. This shift requires us to reduce our scope of work wherever possible. Within HYS administration, that means we're focusing on improving our systems and maintaining a strong, reliable and useful survey as a treasured resource for our state.
On behalf of the HYS Planning Committee, we thank you for your participation in previous revision cycles, the implementation of the survey, and all support disseminating results. Thanks to your participation and support, the HYS provides valuable data on the health and well-being of middle and high school students across the state to empower schools, coalitions, community organizations, local health jurisdictions, and more to assess student needs and provide appropriate, responsive supports that better serve individuals, families, and communities. We couldn't do it without you, and we look forward to being able to accept your revision suggestions again in the future!

Save the dates:
- Mid-April 2026 is our anticipated survey data release timeline!*
*This date refers to reports available directly from the HYS team through the EDS portal and AskHYS.net, not CPWI Databooks. CPWI Databooks are released separately (anticipated to be late Summer) as communicated by HCA/DBHR through Provider Meetings and similar channels. - In late April 2026, we’ll begin hosting recorded webinars for several partner groups to walk through the 2025 results. Watch for webinar invites when the date gets closer!
