Each year, the Prevention Awards of Excellence recognize outstanding prevention professionals, community members, youth, and coalitions for their exemplary contributions to substance use disorder prevention and mental health promotion across Washington state.
The awards are made possible by a volunteer review team, who review the current year's nominations.
What is involved?
Award nominations are typically accepted during April to mid-July; there will be no review team meetings or duties during this time. During the last two weeks of July, review team members will be asked to review and rate nominations. Each nomination review takes approximately 30-45 minutes; the total time commitment for nomination review is dependent upon the number of nominations received.
After the awards ceremony at the 2026 Prevention Summit, the review team may be asked to review the process and make suggestions for improvement.
