Applications Open until April 30: DOH's Youth Advisory Council (Ages 13-22)

Dear Colleagues: 

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is inviting young people across the state to apply for the Adolescent and Young Adult Health Youth Advisory Council

Who we’re seeking: 

Young people ages 13–22 who live in Washington and want to share their ideas, recommendations, and feedback on how to improve health care for teens and young adults.  

Council details:  

  • Term: August 2026 – June 2027 
  • Role: Work with DOH’s Adolescent and Young Adult Health Team to help make key programming decisions and collaborate on public health projects. 
  • Requirements to apply: Internet and email access
  • Compensation: Members earn a $50.00 e-gift card for every activity they participate in 

Member selection will center young people from communities most impacted by health care barriers and inequities. We especially encourage applications from those who:   

  • Identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color, immigrants, and 2SLGBTQIA+. 
  • Have visible or invisible disabilities or are neurodivergent. 
  • Have experience with systems like juvenile legal system, child protective services, or foster care.  
  • Live with chronic disease conditions or undergoing treatment.  
  • Have experience with behavioral or mental health conditionsand care.  
  • Feel left out or experience challenges at school.  
  • Are Apple Health Medicaid insurance recipients. 
  • Face economic or structural barriers.  
  • Have experienced houselessness or unstable housing.   
  • Live in medically underserved areas or face challenges accessing health care. 

We are accepting applications until April 30, 2026.
