HCA recognized as a Healthy People 2030 Champion!

The Washington Health Care Authority (HCA) has been officially recognized as a Healthy People 2030 Champion by the U.S. Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion for our efforts to improve health and well-being at the local, state, and tribal levels.

We are one of only three organizations in Washington State that have earned this designation, and the only state government entity in Washington to earn it.

As a Healthy People 2030 Champion, HCA has demonstrated a commitment to helping achieve the Healthy People 2030 vision of a society in which all people can achieve their full potential for health and well-being across their lifespan.

HCA addresses disease prevention and health promotion in several ways, including through the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery's (DBHR) Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI).

CPWI provides substance misuse prevention services and strategies through local coalitions in high-need communities and is implemented statewide in 100 communities, all 39 counties, and all 9 educational service districts (ESDs).

It's through partnerships with you -HCA counties, school districts, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, and ESDs - that this work is possible. We recognize and thank you for all that you do to create a healthier Washington. We look forward to our continued work together to reduce substance misuse and improve mental health throughout Washington State.
