Cultural humility and cultural competency two-part series

Please join the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) for two live webinar sessions on cultural humility and cultural competency featuring Dr. Ileana Ponce-Gonzalez. These sessions promise to be enlightening and insightful, providing attendees with valuable tools and perspectives to better serve a diverse range of communities. Each live session will be offering up to 1.5 total hours of AAFP credit (pending) and may qualify for Health Equity Continuing Education credit.
Training series dates:
- Part one: Thursday, June 20, noon to 1:30 p.m. Register!
- Part two: Thursday, June 27, noon to 1:30 p.m. Register!
Note, this is a two-part webinar series with each part offering different content that ties everything together.
After the webinar attendees will be able to:
- Interpret their comprehension of cultural diversity by identifying and describing key cultural characteristics that impact care.
- Define and differentiate between the concepts of culture, cultural awareness, and cultural competence, and explain their relevance in healthcare.
- Identify the role of cultural competence and how it benefits the healthcare workforce.
- Apply cultural humility in public health practice.
- Acquire key skills and capacities needed to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Demonstrate role-playing and case discussions to practice developing strategies for reducing health disparities.
Who Should Attend:
This webinar is tailored for healthcare providers, clinic staff, community health workers (CHWs), health advocates and educators, social workers, counselors, and all professions committed to supporting the needs of BIPOC communities.
