Cities and Counties Can Ban Marijuana Businesses - Attorney General
Cities and counties across Washington state have the right to ban marijuana businesses or regulate them as they see fit, according to an opinion issued January 16, 2014 by state Attorney General Bob Ferguson. The result could be a mix of “dry” communities in different parts of the state. Already, three cities in Washington have banned these businesses, 36 have issued moratoriums and 22 have created their own zoning regulations, according to a study by The Center for the Study of Cannabis and Social Policy.
