2023 WA Behavioral Healthcare Conference

The conference brings together a diverse group of presenters to share information about therapeutic interventions, recovery supports, promising programs, and policies that advance best practices to provide a learning experience that expands professional knowledge, promotes community partnerships, and helps make recovery a reality. Over 600 attendees are expected at the in-person event in Kennewick, WA.

Youth Mental Health First Aid

The South Southwest MHTTC presents Mental Health First Aid, which is an early intervention education program that teaches participants the signs and symptoms associated with mental health and/or substance abuse challenges. The session is designed to help participants with identification, learning how to listen without judgment, and provide guidance/resources to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Veteran Tobacco Cessation Workshop: Strategies, Techniques, & Resources for Health Equity

This hybrid workshop will review strategies, techniques, and resources to help decrease tobacco dependence and increase cessation efforts for veterans and military families in Washington State. Through a trauma informed care lens, we will explore the role of smoking with post-traumatic stress and other co-occurring mental health disorders, issues of health equity and social justice, community disparities, and factors affecting older veteran tobacco users.

Tree of Healing Behavioral Health Conference

The Tree of Healing is a premiere behavioral health and Native American cultural conference. Presenters are renowned local, national and international speakers on topics that are timely and targeted towards your learning experience and professional development. Each attendee can earn up to 21 CEU hours including a cultural competency component. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be served for those registered for the conference. Find the agenda here.

Introduction to prevention core competencies

The Introduction to Prevention Core Competencies for Prevention Professionals was designed to introduce practitioners to the essential competencies, knowledge, and skill to work in substance use and misuse prevention. It is based on the Prevention Core Competencies published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The course provides a foundation for service delivery based on prevention science and the use of evidence-based practices.

IECMH Community Networking - Southwest Region

As part of the infant-early childhood mental health statewide tour, the HCA, the Southwest ACH, and Clark County Public Health are hosting an informal community networking event open to any organization that supports families of young children (prenatal through age six) eligible for Apple Health. These networking session is space to learn about available resources for early childhood mental health and connect with partners in your community.

Healing of the Canoe Spring Conference

This is a 4-day intensive training for tribes and Indigenous communities who want to develop a youth education program grounded in culture and connection. The Suquamish Tribe's Healing of the Canoe Curriculum is a proven, promising practice, for Native youth with 14 life skill lessons that utilizes Tribal knowledge, traditional practices and community volunteers for successful implementation. Using the HOC Curriculum as a template, participants will be guided through the adaptation process, so it meets your community's unique needs and incorporating your cultural teachings.
