Objectives: Participants will be able to:

  1. Share the big idea of community-driven prevention (as opposed to coordinator-driven prevention)
    1. Identify some leading from behind' techniques that will help build an inclusive and community-driven coalition
    2. Use leading from behind' techniques to Activate their Core Group and Data Workgroup
  2. List key readiness elements for community coalition work
    1. Assess gaps in readiness for their coalition
  3. Learn a member assessment and recruitment process
    1. Develop a plan to engage coalition members in developing talking points for recruitment
    2. Develop a plan for working with community members to engage 3 priority coalition members
  4. The Million Cups of Coffee: Understand a variety of actions to recruit and engage coalition members
    1. Make a plan to recruit or re-engage potential coalition members using a variety of recruitment actions reviewed today
  5. Identify options for building a culture of participation in your coalition/techniques to maintain coalition member engagement
    1. Craft an objective-focused agenda
    2. Discuss member engagement scenarios and propose possible solutions
