The Starts with One opioid misuse prevention campaign has undergone a refresh, featuring an updated logo, redesigned website, and newly developed materials. In addition to visual updates, the campaign is placing new emphasis on educating patients with short-term injuries, surgery, or other acute pain about effective pain management.
The goal of this refresh is to encourage people to talk with their doctor about pain, a pain management plan, prescription opioids, and opioid alternatives to lower the risk of opioid misuse. Because healing starts with one conversation.
Grounded in the idea that being in pain can feel like being out of control, the campaign aims to help patients regain their sense of security by knowing their options and making a plan. Messaging and resources inform people about non-opioid alternatives, the risks and side effects of opioid prescriptions, and the importance of safe storage and disposal of medications.
