The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is making progress on plans to revise the Tribal Behavioral Health Agenda, published in 2016. SAMHSA worked with tribal leaders, the Indian Health Service, and the National Indian Health Board to develop the National Tribal Behavioral Health Agenda (TBHA). The TBHA is a blueprint for collaborative action by tribes, federal partners, states, and other stakeholders on five foundational elements. They are in process of an environmental scan and SWOT analysis and plan to hold a virtual meeting in February with Tribal and federal stakeholders. SAMHSA is seeking broad geographical Tribal representation. If you or someone you know would be interested in being part of this work, please reach out to Kim Freese (Nelson), SAMHSA Regional Administrator, at Kimberly.Nelson@samhsa.hhs.gov or by phone at (816) 591-6873.
