Project Coordinator, Workforce Development
The Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is searching for a Senior Project Coordinator, Workforce Development. CASAT provides training, technical assistance, and other services to support the substance misuse prevention, treatment, and recovery workforce in applying evidence-based programs, practices, and policies.
The Senior Coordinator will coordinate training and technical assistance services for a regionally based Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC), a collaboration between the Washington State University, University of Washington, and UNR CASAT. The PTTCs serve states, jurisdictions, tribes, community coalitions, and other non-governmental organizations. PTTCs build the capacity of the primary substance misuse prevention workforce to make data-informed decisions; select, implement, and evaluate evidence-based and promising programs and policies; and improve prevention practice and systems.
The Project Coordinator will coordinate services for HHS Region 10 Northwest PTTC which serves Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Visit the Northwest PTTC project website for information.
The Project Coordinator will lead the coordination of training and technical assistance services to build state, tribal, and community capacity to improve all aspects of prevention work. T/TA services may be delivered virtually (e.g., by webinar) or in person. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for managing the development of products and resources (e.g., guidance documents, research briefs) to support the substance misuse prevention workforce.
The Project Coordinator will:
- Develop positive relationships with all project customers/stakeholders, subject matter experts, and partners; maintain effective communication with internal staff members
- Identify specific program needs, and identify services to meet those needs
- Identify and manage appropriate subject matter expert consultants who will deliver specialized T/TA
- Create, deliver, and manage in-person and virtual workforce-related activities, such as trainings, technical assistance services, and product development for substance misuse prevention professionals
- Support development of annual region-wide meetings, trainings, and training-of-trainers
- Document all activities and evaluation data for reporting purposes following established procedures
- Substantially contribute to various reports and continuation applications
- Assist with securing grants and other funding
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Knowledge Requirements
A bachelor’s degree and (3) three years of related work experience is required OR a master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., prevention science, public health, social work, human development, policy) and (2) two years of related work experience is strongly preferred. Prevention Specialist certification is strongly preferred; if not, a willingness to obtain this certification is required.

Required knowledge includes:
- Project coordination (project implementation/delivery; completion of grant/contract activities)
- Best practices to increase adult learners’ knowledge, skills, and abilities to implement effective prevention practices
- Fundamentals of prevention science and SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework
- Zoom and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong public speaking, presentation, training design, facilitation, and writing skills preferred.
Salary Range
This is an administrative faculty position, Range B2. The anticipated starting salary for this position is up to $64,470.31. Work Schedule and Travel Requirements
The work schedule is a standard Monday-Friday work week, approximately 8:30 am – 5:30 pm with occasional nights/weekends. The ability to travel, occasionally on short notice, is required.
