Prevention Planner
The prevention planner will coordinate and assist with planning and implementing suicide prevention activities and training that support the health promotion and disease prevention (HP/DP) efforts for the behavioral health department through community outreach, planning and support for other tribal and regional community events. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27.
Essential job functions
- Coordinate and assist with planning, implementing and documenting culturally grounded prevention activities and curricula for youth and their families.
- Completes and able to train in HP/DP models such as QPR, HOC and other culturally grounded intervention models.
- Plans and coordinates suicide prevention trainings (i.e., QPR) for new and existing staff, which includes scheduling of rooms, participants, trainers and equipment.
- In collaboration with KBHW staff and Chief Leschi School, coordinates opportunities for suicide readiness, Mental health first Aid and other general prevention services.
- Offer small group prevention sessions and workshops for youth and their families aimed to grow behavioral health knowledge and increase resilience in the community.
- Participate in prevention planning meetings with other Puyallup Tribal and community agencies, who serve youth and people with behavioral health challenges.
- Participate in meetings, webinars and calls, as needed, to obtain project related training and technical assistance.
- Plan for program evaluation of each event to include tracking of demographics, participant satisfaction and/or other outcome measures.
- Primarily responsible for all aspects of event planning from inception to completion including room set-up, meals (when applicable) and all other event procurement.
- Develop a program reporting system and maintains records and files, with detailed plan/reports submitted to Program Director 90 days prior to scheduled event and within 10 business days following an event.
- Document and track suicide prevention activities and progress and provide required reports, by specified deadlines, using established tools and guidelines, which comply with any applicable grant requirements.
- Utilize and provide established marketing materials at events, and/or create other related behavioral health education materials, on topics such as: suicide prevention, stigma reduction, recovery, and/or health promotion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Health related field
- Two years’ experience in the behavioral health field working directly with youth and families
- Knowledge of suicide prevention and ability to work with at risk youth
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and developing detailed reports
- Experience and/or ability to work with electronic health record systems
