What does alcohol product placement look like in your community?
The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) is considering a rules project that could change how alcohol products are placed in retail stores across the state. Depending on the input we hear from the public, industry, and partners, this could impact whether alcohol beverages can be placed near non-alcohol beverages or near toys or other child-oriented products. In preparation for that potential rulemaking project, Kristen Haley, Public Health Education Liaison, is collecting photos and stories from the field. While you are in your local retail environments over the next few months, please take note of the placement of alcohol and send the LCB rules inbox pictures highlighting any examples that may contribute to customer confusion, youth access, or impulse buying—and any examples where you are impressed with the way alcohol is placed. With your pictures, please mention the city and store type (e.g. Lacey convenience store or Cle Elem grocery store). Thank you for your collaboration on this project!
