The Healthy Youth Survey Planning Committee (HYSPC) is collecting proposals for new questions and survey question revisions to include in HYS 2023. Each proposal should cover a single question, a single scale, or a group of related questions. Proposals are due April 15, 2022. The HYSPC will use the following criteria in consideration of the proposals:
-
Relevance of Measures
The information the question generates fits with the survey’s topical scope, will be useful to multiple state agencies and stakeholders, and relates to priority youth health outcomes, behaviors, or risk factors. -
Use of Measures
Data from the questions have demonstrated use for adolescent health and prevention work by multiple agencies/stakeholders, or (if new measures) have clear planned use. -
Respondent Burden
Respondent burden (question length, difficulty, sensitivity, etc.) is minimal, or mitigated to greatest extent possible. -
Data availability
Data are not available at the state or local level from other sources, or data from these other sources are not sufficient. -
Technical Considerations
Questions are valid and reliable, and the data they will generate are appropriate for the planned analyses. -
Trends
The health outcome or behavior has been changing and is expected to change in the next two years, OR demonstrating lack of change is important.
