You are invited to an exciting professional development opportunity, the Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) New Coordinator Basic Training (NCBT) beginning on Friday, May 1, 2026. This virtual multipart webinar series is hosted by SAMHSA’s HHS Region 9 & 10 SPTAC Team and the Washington State Health Care Authority, Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR), Substance Use Disorder Prevention Section.

The NCBT covers the following content areas: Expectations for CPWI Coalitions and Coordinators; Role clarification for all associated partners with CPWI; Key coordinator job performance tasks; and frameworks for addressing strengths and barriers with the coalition and programming.  All new CPWI Coalition Coordinators, who have not attended a previous NCBT series, are strongly encouraged to attend. We also encourage supervisors/fiscal agents of CPWI Coordinators to attend on the second session, Friday, May 8, to learn more about CPWI and strengthen their support of the coordinator in their role.

There is no charge for attending the NCBT.  Training size is limited to 20 participants.

NOTE: This training is open for Washington residents, as this is specific to the Washington coalition model. New CPWI Coalition Coordinators are the priority audience for the series. Community-Based Organization (CBO) staff and Tribal Partners are welcome to attend if space is available.  Please check with your Prevention System Manager (PSM) before registering.
