Positive Indian Parenting (PIP) is an eight-week curriculum, developed by the National Indian Child Welfare Association, which provides practical and culturally specific training for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) parents. The training helps parents explore the values and attitudes expressed in traditional AI/AN child-rearing practices and apply them to modern parenting.

Train-the-trainer trainings are designed to prepare facilitators to education and support native parents using the PIP curriculum. Participants will receive instructional materials for eight sessions, each grounded in traditional native teachings about child rearing. CEU credits are available.

Sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day of the training.

Who should attend?

Organizations interested in providing PIP to their community are encouraged to register. Registration preference will be given to tribes, native serving organizations, and recognized American Indian organizations in Washington state.
