Youth Participatory Action Research for Substance Use Prevention: Part 4 of 4

Description: Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) is a process designed to engage teens ages 14-18 as a researchers to learn about and address a health issue in their community. In sessions 2, 3, and 4, faculty and staff from Washington State University with experience implementing YPAR will walk through the 4-H YPAR curriculum including facilitation of sample activities. Practical considerations for using YPAR with youth including best practices, real-world examples, and how to use the YPAR approach for substance use prevention will be incorporated throughout. Session #4 will conclude with information on how to evaluate YPAR. Although live attendance is encouraged, all sessions will be recorded and distributed to those registered who cannot attend live.

* Please note: YPAR for Substance Use Prevention Training Series: Parts 2-4 will refer to a 4-H YPAR curriculum developed by researchers at Oregon State University. All DBHR grantees who plan to implement YPAR with youth in their communities in 2022 are eligible to receive a free copy of the curriculum.
