Alcohol elevates the risk of almost all chronic health conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, and is closely tied to mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. In the past year, alcohol consumption has increased 14% across the board, with heavy drinking rates for women increasing 41%. Surveys have shown that only 2% of excessive drinkers receive any treatment due to a variety of barriers to care.
