Promoting Health of People in Recovery Through Inclusion: Creating a Welcoming Washington State

Speaker: Mark Salzer, Ph.D., Director, Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion of Individuals with Psychiatric Disabilities

Description: Dr. Salzer will introduce the concept of “Welcoming Spaces” and will review the theories and research underlying community inclusion and participation for mental health and wellness of people in recovery from substance use. He will discuss the importance of community spaces (including colleges/universities, libraries, recreational centers, and volunteer organizations) that are welcoming and embracing of these individuals to support their ability to participate in meaningful ways.

Attendees: This event is free and open to anyone intrested in learning more about community inclusion and the importance of community spaces for individuals in recovery from substance use.
