Webinar: Listening session series: The role of prevention professionals in supporting People of Color - Part 1

The COVID-19 pandemic has magnified the historical issues of social injustice and structural racism. In response, a number of organizations hosted webinars and learning communities discussing health equity and its relationship to the substance misuse prevention field and the implementation of best practices and programs. As we move further into 2021, it’s important to remember that these issues have NOT changed. Our work is NOT done.

This listening session series is designed for two audiences: 1) Prevention practitioners who are in leadership positions; and 2) All other prevention professionals working in the field of prevention. The purpose of the sessions is to create a space to truly evaluate the role of prevention professionals in addressing structural racism and in supporting people of color.

Please download the handout, Structural Racism and Supporting People of Color: The Role of Prevention Professionals. This will be used to guide the conversation and to discuss the practical application of the recommendations outlined.
