Webinar: Keys to recruiting men as mentors

Research shows that men are critical as mentors in the mentoring equation, yet many programs struggle to engage men around the benefits of mentoring consistently. Reimagining mentor recruitment requires intentional efforts to identify strategic partnerships with organizations that work with men and implement strategies to recruit men individually. Workshop participants will learn specific strategies to strengthen outreach to men and expand the benefits of men involved in mentoring relationships.

The workshop will address the following best practices:

  • Leveraging relationships with community champions (identifying local men in the community to support the recruitment efforts)
  • Promotional materials (materials that speak to men)
  • Engaging non-traditional populations (military, retired, graduate student, etc.)
  • Messaging/Storytelling
  • Targeted campaigns (barbershops, social media, men’s organizations, etc.)
  • Organizational commitment to recruit and retain male mentors

Facilitator: David Miller, M.Ed.
