Description: Shift your understanding of harmful behaviors and the approach you take in serving people engaged in substance use and self-harm. In this training, we will explore the universality of self-harm, identify harmful behaviors as survival tools and focus on empathy and connection with individuals utilizing substances and self-harm. 

Audience: All prevention, treatment, and recovery providers as well as community members interested in learning more about the harm reduction philosophy.

This webinar is hosted by the WSU Center for Rural Opioid Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery in partnership with Pathways Vermont. 

Speaker: Rebeka Lawrence-Gomez has been with Pathways Vermont since its inception in 2009. Rebeka was a team member on the frst rural Housing First team working initially in housing search and then as a service team member. She now serves as director of operations at Pathways Vermont and in this role she has overseen expansion of housing first services in scope, capacity and geographic range as well as the start-up of multiple alternative mental health services. She is committed to human rights, opportunities for everyone, and individual choice. She has extensive experience in facilitation and material development and provided training in the United States and overseas to a wide variety of audiences and learners. Prior to her work with Pathways she served as a Peace Corps volunteer and worked with Disability Rights Vermont.
