CADCA’s National Leadership Forum is a four-day conference packed with multiple adult and youth-oriented opportunities to learn the latest strategies to fight substance misuse and hear from nationally-known experts and policymakers with a full day dedicated to Capitol Hill events. The Forum is held in the Washington, DC area every year, normally the first week of February and brings together more than 2,700 participants representing community anti-drug coalitions, government leaders, youth, addiction treatment professionals, researchers, educators, law enforcement professionals, youth and faith-based leaders.

DFC Overview & Statutory Eligibility Training

ONDCP and CDC will host a virtual applicant training session on the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program’s Overview and Statutory Eligibility Requirements.
The applicant training session is intended for coalitions interested in applying to the FY 2022 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), which is anticipated to be released in the next few weeks. The training will be in a Zoom webinar format with live Q&A via chat.
The virtual training will be about 2 hours and include a question and answer portion. The training is free and open to all who wish to attend, however, all attendees need to RSVP.

HCA/DBHR will provide this Washington Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST) based upon a national curriculum developed by the federal Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP).
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

- Describe the Strategic Prevention Framework, SAMHSA’s five-step planning model.
- Identify the needs of vulnerable populations in order to improve cultural competency and more effectively address behavioral health disparities.

Strengthening Families Program 10-14 New Facilitator Training - NOTE: REGISTRATION CLOSED

NOTICE: Training site capacity for this training has been met and registration is now closed.
This training will be in-person and is for SFP 10-14 new facilitators who will be working in a team of three to deliver the evidence-based prevention program to families in their local communities.
The training will include:
- an introduction to SFP 10-14,
- review and practice of the 7-week program in a team setting,
- review of the research and current updates,
- discussion- and experiential-based engagement with the curriculum and participants,
- readiness-primer to discuss implementation, logistics, technology, recruitment and retention, and
- technical support for next steps.
Training Dates: February 7-9, 2022 NOTE: Due to the increase of COVID-19 cases and site restrictions to the public, the training has been moved one week later. New date for training will be February 14-16, 2022

One Choice Prevention: A Message of Hope and Science

Description
This webinar from the Northwest and Southwest Prevention Technology Tranfer Centers (PTTCs) presents the One Choice Toolkit, a free resource for prevention leaders working with youth of all ages.
One Choice is not a program but a framework. Analogous to other standards that promote teen health, the standard for substance use is One Choice: no use of any alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, or other drugs by youth under age 21 for reasons of health.
Data show that for American youth, all substance use is closely related – and that the percentage of young people making the decision not to use any substances has been increasing for nearly four decades. The One Choice Toolkit offers data, graphics, and ideas and activities to help communities create social norms campaigns, amplifying the voices of youth who are making One Choice to be drug-free.
Objectives
By the end of the webinar, participants will:
- Articulate the One Choice prevention message and the brain science and national substance use trends behind it
- Identify ways the One Choice message can be successfully integrated into youth-led prevention activities and prevention education materials
- Access the One Choice Toolkit and brainstorm new resources that could enhance the integration of the One Choice message among prevention groups
Audience
Community, tribal, jurisdiction, and state-level substance misuse prevention practitioners and allied health partners located in the Pacific Southwest and Northwest regions, including Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Republic of Marshall Islands, Republic of Palau, and Washington.

Strengthening Families Program 10-14 Recertification Training

Recertification training is for facilitators who have been trained and certified (3 or more years ago) to facilitate SFP 10-14 with families in their local communities. To maintain current certification, facilitators should recertify to receive the most current program updates, updated research of SFP 10-14, leadership development with implementation teams, and review of current research- and practice-based strategies for successful family engagement in prevention programming. Recertification is valid for three (3) years. Recertification is six hours via Zoom with an additional two hours of asynchronous work for a total of 8 hours of training.

Description: These interactive meetings will be an opportunity to create a community of youth-serving providers interested in implementing Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) in their communities. A team of faculty and staff from Washington State University with experience in YPAR will facilitate the meetings. We will prioritize discussing topics that are most relevant to the group - so please bring any questions you have about YPAR regardless of what stage of planning you are at! We will use these sessions to problem solve and brainstorm practical strategies for recruitment, program planning, developing youth-adult partnerships, and more. You are not required to attend all sessions, but we hope to see you as often as you are available!

Pathways to Recovery from Addiction in Mutual Help Groups (webinar)

The goal of the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) Clinical Trials Network/Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) webinar series is to help scholars and clinicians in the addiction field stay abreast of cutting edge science.
In this webinar, Keith Humphreys, PhD (Stanford University) will explore the landscape of mutual help groups and the diverse mutual help groups that are available to patients. The clinical and cost effectiveness of group and 12-step programs will also be reviewed. Lastly, the clinical and policy implications of mutual help groups for promoting recovery from addiction will be discussed.
After this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify at least two essential and two optional features of addiction-focused mutual help groups.
- Recall at least two research studies that examined the effectiveness and health care cost-offset of 12-step mutual help groups.
- Specify at least two clinical and two policy strategies for increased rates of recovery in mutual help groups.

- Providers must attend at least one training and may attend multiple trainings. If you have both CPWI and CBO grantee, you must attend CPWI training and you may also attend CBO training, however please note, much of the info will be the same. Everyone is also encouraged to attend a follow-up Minerva TA sessions to reinforce learning from the training. Lastly, please be aware, there are specific trainings for subcontractors as distinguished in the title
