School-Based Services Policy and Project Manager

This position is contracted with the Washington State Health Care Authority. 

The School-Based Services Policy and Project Manager is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for the prevention of substance use disorder, and specifically focused on school-based prevention services including through the execution of prevention and intervention services through the Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) and other statewide initiatives. Responsibilities include ensuring the Division fulfills Legislative directive by collaborating with assigned state agency and statewide organizational representatives and managing associated contract deliverables.

The School-Based Services Policy and Project Manager serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for early education, K-12, and school-based prevention and intervention services across the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR). This position manages partnerships with other state agencies, the Educational Service Districts (ESDs), school districts and schools, as well as other school-based entities. Provides expert guidance, advice and consultation to DBHR’s Prevention Section, including senior management and leadership about evidence-based curriculum and outcomes, school-based youth services, community prevention services development, and other substance use prevention policy, training, technical assistance, implementation and evaluation.

This position also provides information to federal, national, and other states regarding our implementation of school-based prevention services. This project has significant impact on the quality of care and activities that improve the lives of vulnerable youth and their families including including oversight of an approximately 12-million-dollar biennial budget.
