A new study suggests that teenage girls and young women with a family history of breast cancer should steer clear of alcohol. The study found those who had a drink a day on average were more than twice as likely as those who didn’t drink to develop benign breast disease, a risk factor for breast cancer.

Seattle Nightlife Initiative Seeks to Extend Service Hours to 6:00am

The City of Seattle, as part of the Mayor's Seattle Nightlife Initiative (SNL), has petitioned the Washington Liquor Control Board (LCB) to consider allowing it to extend drinking hours from 2:00am to 6:00am, effectively creating a 24/7 drinking environment in Seattle.

It should be no secret to anyone in the prevention community by now that Initiative 1183, with a campaign funded largely by Costco, passed overwhelmingly on November 8.  There will be immediate impacts on the state with a scheduled start of liquor sales in qualifying stores on March 1, 2012.
