This training is for SFP 10-14 new facilitators who will be working in a team of three to deliver the evidence-based prevention program to families in their local communities.
The training will include:

Becoming a Harm Reductionist

Presenter: Callan Fockele, MD, a physician and population health research fellow at Harborview Medical Center. She works clinically in the emergency department (ED) and permanent supportive housing. She studies the social determinants of health, with a focus on addiction and homelessness. She is interested in improving transitions of care for ED-initiated buprenorphine patients, screening ED patients for social risks and needs, and providing evidence-based care to patients who use drugs.
This presentation will describe Dr. Fockele's current work using community-based participatory research to implement harm reduction inside and outside the emergency department. She will focus on her recent partnership with Public Health—Seattle & King County, the Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute, the Harm Reduction Research & Treatment Center, and the Public Defender Association to establish the Council of Expert Advisors on Drug Use (CEADU), which is composed of local people with lived experience. As a co-investigator on two pilot projects inspired by the passage of Washington State Senate Bill 5476, she will work with CEADU to create an implementation toolkit that integrates take-home naloxone, buprenorphine treatment, and HIV/hepatitis C testing into first-responder programs while also adapting the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) model to improve encounters between first responders and people who use drugs.

Strengthening Families Program 10-14 Virtual Adaptation Training (Spanish & English Delivery)HYBRID

Description: In this virtual adaptation training, facilitators will review the virtual curriculum adaptation for Strengthening Families Program 10-14 (for both Spanish and English language programs). Participants will leave with an understanding of how to deliver, with fidelity, the SFP 10-14 program in a virtual setting (actual application/practice will happen during the training). The training will be conducted in English and will also cover the cultural adpations for the Spanish language delivery of SFP 10-14 (Fortaleciendo Familias 10-14).
Audience: This training is intended for trained and certified SFP 10-14 facilitators and support staff who are preparing to implement SFP 10-14 virtually (in Spanish and/or English) in the next 1-3 months. This training will not include initial certification for new facilitators as this is an abridged training focused specifically on the technical and curriculum adaptations for virtual delivery.

- Participants log into a web portal each week to obtain reading material and pre-session learning assignments.
- Participants join live web-based, video-conferencing sessions with experts who facilitate discussion on the posted materials, provide opportunities to apply skills, receive feedback and share experiences.
Series Overview:
We know that policy work is important for creating lasting change, but how do we navigate and impact a regulatory landscape that can be confusing and at times fraught with hidden pitfalls? This four-session distance learning series offers participants with an interactive opportunity to explore the prevention and regulatory landscape in order to better understand the system, analyze the current state of laws and regulations, and work toward activating their community for change. The series will include skill-based learning opportunities, individual and group activities, reading assignments, and group discussion.
Audience:
Community, state, and tribal-based prevention practitioners and allied partners working to prevent substance misuse in the Northwest Prevention Technology Transfer Center HHS Region 10: Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

Description: Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) is a process designed to engage teens ages 14-18 as a researchers to learn about and address a health issue in their community. Strengthening Families Program 10-14 Recertification Training

Recertification training is for facilitators who have been trained and certified (3 or more years ago) to facilitate SFP 10-14 with families in their local communities. To maintain current certification, facilitators should recertify to receive the most current program updates, updated research of SFP 10-14, leadership development with implementation teams, and review of current research- and practice-based strategies for successful family engagement in prevention programming. Recertification is valid for three (3) years. Recertification is six hours via Zoom with an additional two hours of asynchronous work for a total of 8 hours of training.

Lower income communities are often the location of choice for smoke shops, liquor stores and other adult-focused businesses. However, due to the high numbers of these businesses in such areas, they are one of several community factors that have been identified as lowering the life expectancy, health, and quality of life for those living nearby. Smart policy solutions can mitigate some of these challenges and give residents an opportunity to thrive.
This webinar will be led by Catherine Patterson, co-executive director of CityHealth. CityHealth is an organization dedicated to promoting local solutions that can give everyone the opportunity to live healthy, full lives. Most recently, Ms. Patterson presented on a CityHealth report examining the relationship between alcohol policy/practices and violent crime in cities. She also presented at the National Association of County and City Health Officials annual conference about how community-centered alcohol licensing and practices can lead to better health outcomes.

This webinar invites a new approach to the practice of focusing on recovery before parenting. Healthy and safe parenting within the context of a supportive community is a means of achieving and sustaining recovery. Participants will hear from a mom who will share how motherhood was a catalyst to her recovery. The presenters will describe strategies that substance use treatment and recovery services can adopt to simultaneously increase both recovery and parenting capital through individual and group approaches. The webinar will also address the benefits and how-tos of developing and sustaining a peer recovery workforce cross-trained in parenting support, along with the introduction of a specialized toolkit.
