Assessing State and Local Alcohol Control Policies and Enforcement (Hosted by GW Cancer Center)

Alcohol use is the third-leading preventable cause of death in the United States, with an estimated 88,000 alcohol-related deaths annually. Drinking alcohol increases the risk of various types of cancer. Harmful alcohol consumption damages health, causes diseases and injuries, weakens response to COVID19, and leads to significant economic and societal costs. With alcohol consumption rising and even greater increases in heavy drinking among women, racial minorities, older adults, and the poor, there is a need to use policy strategies to address excessive alcohol consumption.

Please join GW Nursing and the GW Cancer Center in welcoming Toben Nelson, ScD for a webinar to discuss state and local alcohol control policies and enforcement.
