The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is currently seeking to hire a Prevention Policy and Project Manager

The position serves as the Expert for prevention of youth marijuana use; Project Manager for the Dedicated Marijuana Account (DMA), marijuana policy and I-502;  and Manages partnerships with other state agencies related to relevant project and initiatives. This project has significant impact on the quality of strategies that improve the lives of vulnerable youth and their families in high need communities.

Duties / Typical Work:

The following is a sample of what the Prevention Policy and Project Manager will do:

  • Research, study and analyze proposed legislation, current policy and implementation processes and protocols.
  • Identifying  priorities, performance improvement activities, improvement results and making recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Provide expertise, technical assistance and linkages to evidence based programs for outcomes and implementation.
  • Provide project budget and policy management.
  • Manage key interagency partnerships and national partners through development and sharing of research, analysis, status reports and performance improvement activities.
  • Developing communication strategies, including the creation of multidimensional reports for management information and decision making, having broad scope and significant impact for vulnerable youth and their families.
