Prevention Coalition Student Assistance Specialist, Highline School District, King County

Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) is seeking a Prevention Coalition Student Assistance Specialist to implement and ensure high-quality delivery of substance abuse prevention and intervention services for students in the Highline School District. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and implement prevention plans to ensure that all students are safe, healthy, supported, engaged, challenged and actively participating in their school experience. PSESD is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts and state-approved private schools in Washington. Educational Service Districts, created by the legislature, are an essential regional delivery system for early learning and k-12 services in the state. PSESD is striving to become an Antiracist Multicultural Organization and offer nearly 100 services that support students, families, teachers and school districts from infancy to college. Qualifications •BA/BS in Education, Human Services, or related field, AND CDP, CPP, ESA or Mental Health Certification (AA/AAS degree in job-related area PLUS CDPT credential may substitute for BA degree). •Professional experience working in a school-based program with emphasis on: violence prevention and/or early intervention, alcohol, tobacco and/or other drug prevention and early intervention, and/or mental health. Preferred Qualifications •Experience with school-based student assistance programs or youth-based educational support groups •Experience working with community-based coalitions •Presentation experience Please see Job Description for more information. Position based at Cascade Middle School in Highline School District. Position is Full Time until 8/31/2015; at 9/1/2015, position transitions to School Schedule (~8 hours per day, ~185 days per year, or ~1,480 hours per year) Salary: $21.68 – $25.14 per hour.
