Funding Announcement - Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA)

On November 29, 2017, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) released the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) community-based coalition enhancement grants to address local drug crisis grants.

ONDCP states that the purpose of this program is to prevent and reduce the use of opioids or methamphetamines and the abuse of prescription medications among youth ages 12-18 in communities throughout the United States.

Who is eligible?

Domestic public and private nonprofit entities that are current or former Drug-Free Communities (DFC) support program recipients.

What is the amount appropriated for these grants?

The anticipated total of available funding for CARA community-based collation enhancement grants is $2,750,000 with 55 estimated awards projected. The estimated award amount is up to $50,000 and the final deadline for the application is 11:59pm (Eastern) on January 29, 2018.
