FDA’s New E-Cigarette Rules Now In Effect

By Partnership News Service Staff

The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) new rules on tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, went into effect Monday, HealthDay reports. Under the rules, announced in May, the agency is banning sales of e-cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco and hookah tobacco to people under age 18.

Photo IDs will now be required to purchase e-cigarettes. Retailers will not be allowed to hand out free samples or sell them in vending machines accessible to people of all ages.

Companies will be required to submit all tobacco products to the FDA for regulatory review. They will have to provide the agency with a list of product ingredients and place health warnings on their product packages and in ads.
