E-Cigarette Products Rushed to Market Ahead of New FDA Regulations

BY PARTNERSHIP NEWS SERVICE STAFF

Many e-cigarette products were rushed to market ahead of new Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations on tobacco products, which took effect Monday. The new rules require companies to submit e-cigarettes for government approval, Reuters reports.

E-cigarette devices introduced before the regulations took effect can be sold for up to three years while companies apply and wait for regulatory review.

Under the new rules, companies will have to provide the agency with a list of product ingredients and place health warnings on their product packages and in ads. The FDA is banning sales of e-cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco and hookah tobacco to people under age 18.
