Last year over 194,000 students across Washington State were chronically absent; Washington State has the highest chronic absenteeism rate in the nation. Missing school has negative consequences for all students, but the impact on youth from low income homes is even greater, resulting in falling behind in early grades and ultimately failure to graduate high school.
