Curriculum-based Support Group (CSBG) Training in Tekoa, WA November 22, 2014

Curriculum-Based Support Group (CBSG®)

Free CBSG Training in Tekoa on 11/22/14

sponsored by the Healthy Tekoa Coalition at the Tekoa Library

(Funded by the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery)

The Curriculum-Based Support Group (CBSG®) Program   http://trans4mcenter.org/cbsg/

is a unique, multi-cultural, evidence-based preventive intervention for selective and indicated populations.  The program is designed for kids, ages 4-17, whose high-risk situations - including Adverse Childhood Experiences, attitudes and behaviors place them at elevated risk for future behavioral and health problems including substance abuse, delinquency and violence.

Children and youth meet in confidential, small group settings and are taught a set of essential life skills to help them learn how to:  cope with difficult family situations, resist negative peer pressure, respect themselves and others, set and achieve goals, make healthy choices, and refuse alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.  The CBSG® Program  has been recognized by the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP), Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Healthy Tekoa Coalition is holding a one-day free training in Tekoa at the Tekoa Library on November 22, from 9-4 for adults interested in becoming facilitators. Each participant will receive a facilitator’s manual. Bring a sack lunch. . Only 7 spots open so RSVP is required.
