Workshops

Workshops are still being planned but here's a sneak peak at just a few

CODE:  We welcome NAMI Tennessee Executive Director, Jeff Fladen who will screen the documentary CODE, which stands for Correctional Officers De-Escalation Education.

The purpose of the CODE project is to create, distribute and conduct a Correctional Officers training program based on the CIT model providing concrete examples of how to manage inmates with mental illness in daily operations, including effective communication, skillful intervention and monitoring guidelines as well as successful de-escalation strategies.

Navigating the World of Public Benefits Programs: A requested return workshop teaching how to navigate public benefit programs (SSI/SSDI), how to deal with appeals, and helpful tips.

Saving Lives by Empowering Families - Understanding HIPPA: This workshop will provide a checklist of issues for families to use and reassurance that their requests for more information are both proper and beneficial to those living with mental illness.  The workshop will also explain the therapeutic, legal and ethical bases for communication even without a release of information where a family member is at elevated risk of suicide.
